WHY YOU SHOULD TRUST ME

My first computer was an MS-DOS laptop. I got it in about 2001 and I used to play Prince of Persia and Dave in black and white.

Because I don’t have the option, I was forced to fix and upgrade all my computers, both Windows and Mac.
In the early 2010s, I wrote about electronics and I always was helping people buy the best tech for their needs.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 REVIEW

  • PERFORMANCE:

The quad-core Core i7-1185G7 and the 16GB of RAM on this laptop make it run productivity apps or multitask flawlessly.

There is no possibility to upgrade the GPU, making it a better fit for busy execs than creative pros.

  • DISPLAY:

The 16:10 display, which is slightly taller and narrower than the standard 16:9, makes it ideal for young professionals who work with spreadsheets or write reports.

The low blue light technology is great for people who suffer from eye strain or occasional migraine.

  • KEYBOARD:

The keyboard keys are so bouncy, quiet, have just the right amount of travel adequate size and spacing for even people with small fingers.

Unfortunately, the Ctrl and Fn keys are swapped, which may take a bit of getting used to.

  • TRACKPAD:

This trackpad feels fantastic and is responsive.

Compared to every other business laptop, this trackpad is smaller but does not feel cramped with swiping and two-finger scrolling

  • STORAGE:

The 512GB of SSD storage that you get with this laptop is plenty for most young professionals.

  • BATTERY LIFE:

The 15 hours and 39 minutes that the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 can last browsing the internet over Wi-Fi in a single charge is outstanding.

Its rapid charge battery capability makes it able to charge up for a few hours after only 15-30 minutes.

  • PORTABILITY

Being so thin and very light, this laptop is very easy to handle and carry around.

  • WEBCAM

The webcam isn’t fantastic but you will not look super blurry or unrecognizable.

If Zoom meetings are a big part of your workday, I recommend buying an external webcam.

You also get a physical webcam shutter for added privacy.

  • AUDIO

The improved Dolby Atmos audio system delivers loud and clear audio.

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for an ultrabook for productivity on the go that looks fantastic, able to last for more than a full workday on a single charge with a generous screen real estate, then the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 is a great choice to consider.

HP Pro C640 Chromebook REVIEW

  • PERFORMANCE:

This laptop is good at multitasking, the Core i7-10610U CPU and its 16GB of RAM can open more than 30 Google Chrome tabs from Google Docs to Youtube and remain responsive.

  • DISPLAY:

The 14″ display has relatively sharp and the viewing angles are good with slim-ish side bezels but are too dim to work outside in direct sunlight.

  • KEYBOARD:

The keyboard is spill-resistant and very comfortable and satisfying.

Personally, I prefer black keycaps with white characters over these dark-gray characters on silver keycaps, but the good backlighting makes this less of a problem.

  • TRACKPAD:

The stylish and spacious glass-coated trackpad is super responsive and has a sharp click.

  • STORAGE:

The HP Pro C640 Chromebook comes with 128GB eMMC of storage, which is a little bit limiting if you work with a lot of programs or you have to store high-quality videos.

  • BATTERY LIFE:

This laptop can last 11 hours and 7 minutes browsing the internet over Wi-Fi which is impressive and perfect for long-haul flights or just a tough working day.

  • PORTABILITY

What does limit the portability of this laptop is its weight of 4.8 lbs, but it’s by no means a problem to carry around.

  • WEBCAM

The 720p webcam on this laptop has a wide-viewing angle but a video quality that is distractingly poor.

  • AUDIO

The speakers on the HP Pro C640 Chromebook output audio with a very decent level of volume and with superb clarity.

CONCLUSION

If you are a young professional and you want to save a little bit on your next long battery and slim laptop that is durable, this HP Pro C640 Chromebook is a good choice.

DELL XPS 13 (9310) REVIEW

  • PERFORMANCE:

The DELL XPS 13 (9310) is a fantastic multitasker with its 11th-gen Core i7 and Intel Iris Xe graphics.

Dell and Intel worked together to optimize it for speed, efficiency, and graphics performance.

  • DISPLAY:

The display of this laptop is clear and has super-narrow bezels.

Its 16:10 display gives you more vertical space than most consumer laptops, which is ideal for young professionals who work on spreadsheets.

  • KEYBOARD:

The keyboard that run nearly edge-to-edge is snappy and comfortable with enough travel, making it a delight to type on.

  • TRACKPAD:

The trackpad is smooth, very responsive, and has a glossy touch making it feel very premium.

You can effortlessly click on the trackpad anywhere you want on this trackpad.

  • STORAGE:

The 512GB SSD you with this laptop is more than enough for almost all young professionals.

  • BATTERY LIFE:

Due to the Intel Evo, the DELL XPS 13 (9310) can last 11 hours and 47 minutes.

  • PORTABILITY

The 2.8 pounds and 0.58 inches thick of this laptop makes it easy to carry in your hand, inside a bag, or from room to room.

  • WEBCAM

The webcam isn’t particularly crisp but it works reliably enough in Windows Hello face-recognition login. It also has a physical shutter for your privacy.

Overall, this webcam quality remains fairly standard for a laptop webcam.

  • AUDIO

The audio on the DELL XPS 13 (9310) is loud enough to fill a small room but it becomes unpleasantly buzzy at the highest level.

CONCLUSION

If you are looking for a seriously powerful ultraportable laptop with a sleek design and a superb productivity performance, the DELL XPS 13 (9310) is a great choice to consider.

M1 MacBook Pro 13.3″ REVIEW

  • PERFORMANCE:

This MacBook Pro 13-inch doesn’t disappoint in terms of performance, especially for young professionals looking for a laptop that wake-up instantly like an iPhone or iPad.

This laptop can turbo boost up to 3.8GHz when needed and drop below 2GHz to cool down or save power.

  • DISPLAY:

The display is bright, vibrant, and has a sharp image and an excellent color reproduction for professionals who need true-to-life colors.

  • KEYBOARD:

The Magic Keyboard feels great to type on and the Touch Bar gives you shortcuts depending on what you’re doing

Compared to the ”butterfly” mechanism, it is less prone to key failures

  • TRACKPAD:

The M1 MacBook Pro has an enormous trackpad that lets you click anywhere on it with physical function keys that let you rest your fingers without triggering unintended actions.

  • STORAGE:

This laptop can come with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of storage.

  • BATTERY LIFE:

The M1 is remarkably power-efficient. It can last between fifteen and twenty hours with a variety of tasks.

  • PORTABILITY

Despite being slightly hefty, this laptop is easy to carry inside a bag.

  • WEBCAM

The 720p FaceTime HD webcam is not the best. Faces are a little brighter and the image processing can really be seen.

  • AUDIO

This audio laptop is excellent with its six-speaker sound system with force-canceling woofers and support for Dolby Atmos spatial audio, offering robust bass and plenty of volume for such a small laptop.

CONCLUSION

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST LAPTOP FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

MACBOOK OR WINDOWS LAPTOP

This is a personal choice, and my advice for you is to stick to whatever you are familiar with unless you need to.

One thing that makes Windows laptops preferred by some is their affordability.

PRICE

The best laptops for young professionals range from $500 to $1500.

RAM

This depends largely on your work if you are just browsing the internet with occasional video and photo editing, 8 GB of memory can do the trick.

If your work consists of something complicated like architecture, design, or video editing, you should opt for 16 GB of RAM
